Oyo Central Senatorial: Those Afraid of Direct Primaries Are Behind the False Claims — AWA Support Group
The AWA Support Group has strongly dismissed the rumours currently circulating in some quarters alleging that Dr. Ademola Wasiu Alli (AWA) has been screened out of the forthcoming primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the claim as false, malicious, and a desperate attempt to manipulate the minds of party faithful ahead of tomorrow’s direct primary election.

In a statement issued on behalf of the group, the supporters of the leading Oyo Central Senatorial aspirant stated that the rumour is clearly the handiwork of individuals and camps who are afraid of facing party members through a direct primary process because they are fully aware of their disconnect from the grassroots structure and loyal faithful of the APC across the senatorial district.

The group noted that the APC is a well structured political party with established procedures and official channels of communication, stressing that any issue relating to screening outcomes or disqualification of aspirants would be formally communicated directly to the concerned aspirant with clear details surrounding such decision.
According to the statement, no such communication has been received by Dr. Ademola Wasiu Alli from the party at any level, while no official publication from the APC has declared him screened out of the race.

“These rumours are nothing but panic driven propaganda from those who have suddenly realised that party members across Oyo Central are ready to reclaim their voice through the direct primary election. The falsehood being circulated is the last card of those who know they have lost touch with the grassroots faithful of our great party.”
The AWA Support Group maintained that Dr. Alli remains fully in the race and fully prepared for tomorrow’s primary election, expressing confidence in the democratic process and the overwhelming support he continues to enjoy among party members across the district.
The group therefore urged APC leaders, ward executives, party faithful, youths, women, and supporters not to be deterred, distracted, or intimidated by unfounded rumours, but to remain steadfast and come out en masse to participate in the election.
“AWA is in the race and remains committed to the democratic process. AWA is not afraid of direct primary election because he remains one of the few aspirants with genuine grassroots acceptance and connection across Oyo Central. Tomorrow, party faithful must speak loudly and clearly with their votes.”
The group further called on members of the APC across the senatorial local governments to remain peaceful, vigilant, and focused as the party prepares for what it described as a defining moment for the future of representation in Oyo Central Senatorial District.
