JUNE 12: AWA Commemorates Democracy Day, Reaffirms Support for Tinubu, Calls for Civic Awareness
Dr. Ademola Wasiu Alli (AWA), aspirant for the Oyo Central Senatorial District seat under the All Progressives Congress (APC), has joined Nigerians in commemorating Democracy Day, describing June 12 as a defining moment in the nation’s democratic journey and a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by pro-democracy activists and citizens in the struggle for civil rule.

He noted that the significance of the day goes beyond celebration, stressing that it represents the courage, resilience, and collective will of Nigerians who stood firm in defense of democratic governance and the principles of freedom, justice, and accountability.

AWA also congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR), describing him as one of the leading figures in Nigeria’s democratic struggle and a key voice in the movement that shaped the nation’s return to civil rule. He commended the President’s administration for ongoing efforts to reposition the country through the Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in the areas of economic and governance reforms.
”Democracy Day reminds us of the sacrifices that brought us here and the responsibility we all share in protecting the gains of our democratic system. President Tinubu remains one of the strong pillars of that struggle, and his continued efforts to reform and stabilize the nation deserve recognition and support.”

He further stressed that citizens must continue to play active roles in strengthening democratic institutions, promoting accountability, and protecting the nation’s democratic gains, while reaffirming his full support for President Tinubu’s ideals and vision of democratic governance.
AWA also called on the National Orientation Agency (NOA) to intensify public enlightenment campaigns, especially among young people, to deepen awareness of government programmes and initiatives targeted at youth empowerment, civic responsibility, and national development.
According to him, improved civic education will help bridge the gap between government policies and public understanding, ensuring that more Nigerians, particularly the youth, are better positioned to benefit from ongoing reforms and development initiatives.
