‎AWA LOKAN: APC Leaders Demand Rotational Representation in Ibadan North West/Ibadan South West Federal Constituency

Leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ibadan North West Local Government have called for urgent intervention to address what they described as a long-standing imbalance in the representation of the Ibadan North West/Ibadan South West Federal Constituency.

‎In a press release dated May 1, 2026, the party leaders appealed to the national leadership of the APC to uphold principles of fairness, equity, and inclusion by ensuring a rotational arrangement between the two local governments in the constituency.

The stakeholders noted that since the return to democratic governance in 1999, Ibadan South West Local Government has largely dominated representation in the House of Representatives, with Ibadan North West only briefly holding the mandate between 1999 and 2003.

‎They expressed concern that the continued exclusion of Ibadan North West contradicts the ideals of balanced representation and has contributed to growing feelings of marginalisation among party members and residents.

‎The group urged both the national and Oyo State leadership of the APC to review the pattern of representation and implement enforceable measures that would guarantee fairness, including giving Ibadan North West the opportunity to produce the next candidate for the federal constituency.

Describing their demand as one rooted in democratic justice and historical reality, the stakeholders stressed that equitable representation is essential to sustaining unity, trust, and cohesion within the party.

The statement was jointly signed by prominent party leaders and stakeholders in Ibadan North West, including Alhaji Muili Adewolu Oluokun, Jeleel Kehinde Agboola, Alhaji MKO Olaoye, Bashorun Bosun Ajuwon, and Hon. Akeem A. Oladipo, among others.
