Democracy Day: Barr Akeem Agbaje Honours June 12 Heroes, Reaffirms Support for President Tinubu’s Reforms

Barr. Akeem Adedeji Agbaje, frontline gubernatorial aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State for the 2027 election, has joined Nigerians in commemorating Democracy Day, describing June 12 as a defining moment in the nation’s democratic journey and a symbol of the sacrifices made by countless patriots in the struggle for civil rule and democratic governance.

‎In a statement issued to mark the occasion, Barr Akeem Agbaje noted that June 12 remains a significant chapter in Nigeria’s history, representing the resilience of the Nigerian people, their commitment to democratic ideals, and the collective determination to uphold justice, freedom, and the rule of law.


He paid tribute to the heroes and heroines of the democratic struggle whose sacrifices paved the way for the democratic system currently enjoyed by Nigerians, stressing that the lessons of June 12 should continue to inspire citizens and leaders alike in the pursuit of national development and good governance.

“June 12 is more than a date on our national calendar. It is a reminder of the courage, sacrifices, and convictions of those who stood firmly for democracy and the right of Nigerians to freely determine their political future. Their sacrifices must never be forgotten.”

The APC chieftain also congratulated Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the occasion, describing him as one of the prominent figures in Nigeria’s democratic struggle whose contributions to the restoration and sustenance of democratic governance remain widely acknowledged.

‎Barr Akeem Agbaje commended the administration of President Tinubu for its ongoing efforts to reposition the country through the Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that the economic and governance reforms being implemented are geared towards laying a stronger foundation for sustainable growth, stability, and national prosperity.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has remained faithful to the democratic ideals he has long championed. Through the Renewed Hope Agenda, his administration is pursuing reforms aimed at strengthening institutions, expanding opportunities, and building a more resilient economy.
