JUST IN: President Tinubu Reshuffles Cabinet, Appoints Sunday Dare as Special Adviser
President Bola Tinubu, has re-assigned 10 ministers to new portfolios and appointed seven new ministers, whose nominations have been forwarded to the Senate for confirmation. The reshuffle comes as part of the administration’s efforts to revamp its leadership and improve governance.
Among the ministers relieved of their duties are Uju-Ken Ohanenye, the former Minister of Women Affairs; Lola Ade-John, the former Minister of Tourism; Tahir Mamman, the former Minister of Education; Abdullahi Gwarzo, the former Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development; and Jamila Ibrahim, the former Minister of Youth Development. Their removal is seen as part of the president’s bid to inject new energy into key ministries.
In addition to the reassignments, the Presidency announced the appointment of Shehu Dikko as the new Chairman of the National Sports Commission, an important step following the scrapping of the Ministry of Sports Development.
Furthermore, Sunday Akin Dare, former Minister of Youth and Sports, has been appointed Special Adviser to the President on Public Communication and Orientation. He will serve from the Ministry of Information and National Orientation, where he is expected to play a key role in enhancing the government’s communication strategy.
